A status update

The Windows port is in the process of being updated for Factor 0.83 by Doug Coleman. The UI works; native I/O does not, yet. As soon as this is working, I will release 0.83. I've been working on a multi-line text editor gadget. Its mostly functional now, and the old single-line editor gadget has been removed. Later on I might try building a text editor around this gadget, athough it will not be as big and complex as jEdit.

I for one would like to have a simple native yet useful editor so I would have the option of not having to have Java for the high powered jEdit on some platforms that are either resource limited or kept as simple as possible for my own sanity purposes (ok, just trying to keep the last shred thereof).

Eventually I will wrap the UI's text area gadget in a framework for loading/saving files, but don't expect much more functionality than what Notepad offers.

However the long term plan is that editing of Factor code will be done in a structure editor (like InterLisp) with text files only used to import and export code from the image.
